Lawrence R. Young
2007 ENTREPRENEUR IN RESIDENCE

Lawrence Young is President and CEO of Active ES, Inc., a Southern California-based corporation which designs and markets energy management technology worldwide.
With decades of experience in international business operations, high technology, and training, primarily performing “turn-arounds” M&A, and expansion, Mr. Young formed Talent Investors (“Talent” refers to the biblical Parable of the Talents) with his Business Partner to identify businesses to acquire, turn around, and grow for eventual sale. Targeting the burgeoning field of energy management, their most recent project is Active ES.
Mr. Young has performed (and in many cases presented training on) leadership, management, business plans, funding, recruitment and training, new product development, decision making, problem solving, negotiations, liaising with legal teams on contracts, litigation and patents, as well as marketing, design, P.R., sales, operations, due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, re-organizations, events, research and development, project management, logistics, manufacturing, etc.
Mr. Young’s professional career has taken him throughout the United States, as well as the U.K., Australia and Mexico. His business career began at Technology Training Corporation (TTC), a high technology/aerospace/defense seminar and conference development company where he eventually served as head of operations in Australia and then in Mexico, reorganizing those profit centers, and as the Director of Engineering, Manufacturing and Management topics worldwide.
In the mid 90’s Mr. Young was asked by his eventual business partner to join him at Infotec Commercial Systems, a high technology training company specializing in software developer and Engineer training for the major software products. They, with the Infotec leadership team, grew the company from 4 branches to over 30 profit centers, growing the company from a few million to over $30 million in annual sales in 5 years, ultimately receiving awards from Novel, Lotus, Microsoft and others with each of their version of the best training provider (many world-wide). He served on Microsoft’s Online Institute Advisory Board and at various times lead corporate operations, due diligence for M&A, new business ventures such as on-line training, courseware development, Etc. ultimately serving as President and CEO. Born and raised in Fresno and a CSUF graduate (Class of 1982,) Mr. Young feels that the direction and skills for his career were given to him at Fresno State, where he was a two-term President of his fraternity, Interfraternity Man of the Year, and helped grow the chapter to over 120 members. Upon graduation from Fresno State, he began leadership consulting to chapters at approximately 100 colleges and universities traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada for Lambda Chi Alpha International Fraternity, and beginning in 1984 served on the senior staff working with Alumni and running regional and national conventions. He currently serves on their Joseph T. Charles Mentor Leadership Program Advisory Committee.
Over the years, Mr. Young has been involved in a theatrical company, run political campaigns and been involved in numerous organizations in his community. He is a Christian and credits any success to his Faith. Mr. Young is married and lives with his wife and son in Mission Viejo, California.
