NFTE National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship

NFTE, Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, provides entrepreneurship education programs to young people from low-income communities to enhance their economic productivity by improving their business, academic and life skills.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW NFTE’s programs teach entrepreneurship using experiential curriculum that corresponds to high school reading levels and complexity. The curriculum may be used in a semester-long or year-long stand alone entrepreneurship elective course, in an after school setting, or integrated with an existing course on campus.
In an NFTE program students learn business concepts, practice skills including negotiation and pricing, and work on completion of business plans for their own individual business.
Through NFTE, students participate in a classroom business plan competition in hopes of making it to the regional finals. The grand prize winner will be eligible to apply for participation in the national competition in New York City, in addition to walking away with prize money and an internship in his/her field.
BACKGROUND Since 1987, NFTE has reached more than 230,000 young people and has program in 22 states and 13 countries.
The Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship coordinate with participating schools on all logistics of the program including teacher trainings, relevant site field trips, guest speaker appearances and networking events. |
